Mrs King will be leaving at the end of this week as she prepares for the arrival of her first child.
I am also delighted to be able to tell you that Mrs Jordan is expecting her first child in September. She will be with us until the end of this academic year before taking her maternity leave.
Both the A and B teams played at Norbury Hall last Thursday. The A team lost 2-1 with Norbury scoring the winner in the final minute; while the B team lost 4-3. Mr Lane was delighted by the hard work and effort that everyone put in. Well done.
The next game is here on Thursday 3rd April, for the A team only, against Pownall Green at 3:30pm.
Stockport Schools’ Choir Concert
15 members of the school choir took part in the annual Stockport Primary Schools’ Choir Concert last Thursday at the Town Hall. Despite being small in number they made an amazing sound and were an absolute credit to the school. Well done.
Parking and dangerous driving
Mrs Marshall and I have both been asking parents to be considerate about parking around school and to take care when driving. However last Tuesday two residents contacted school to complain about parents parking across their drives and then being abusive when challenged about it; and last Friday one child was nearly hit by a car driving up over the pavement.
We have contacted the Council about a replacement for Mrs Roberts but at present that is not a possibility.
We would ask that parents think about the choices they are making and act in a safe and responsible manner.
Parental Engagement Activities
This term the year groups/classes would like to invite you to the following activities/events:
Year 6 – year group assembly by both classes on Thursday 3rd April 9-9:30am in the school hall.
Year 5 – performances of The Peace Child on Thursday 3rd April at 1:30pm and 7pm.
Please note the change of time.
Mr Kinnear has informed me that the play will last approximately an hour and a half which is why it needs to start earlier than previously thought.
Y3M – class assembly in the classroom on Friday 4th April 9-9:20am.
Sport Relief day
Thank you to everyone who raised money for Sport Relief by running or walking a mile on Friday 21st March.
Once you have collected all the sponsorship money please send it into school. Any cheques should be made payable to ‘Sport Relief 2014 (Schools)’. To date we have raised £1,455.26.
Thank you to all parents who have adopted the new Dinner System and paid every Monday morning. Regrettably, however, there has been a lapse in payments and the school are now owed £313.40 in unpaid dinner monies. Please may I remind you that Dinner Order Forms are sent home with the children every Friday and they must be returned on Monday morning with the dinner order for that week/term, together with payment.
Glee Club – forms due in this week.
Year 6 Residential Parental Approval Proforma – due in this week
We close for the Easter holidays this Friday, 4th April at 3:20pm. School opens again on Tuesday 22nd April at 8:50am.
With best wishes for a peaceful Easter,
Miss Sheila Harrison
