Newsletter week beginning 30/06/14

Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 6
Our Year 6s are on their residential trip in the Lake District from today until Wednesday.
Mrs Jordan will be out of class while I am away so if you have any concerns that you would normally contact me about, please speak to her instead.

Certificates
The following children were presented with certificates in assembly this morning:

Y5C – Nia Moi for excellent behaviour in class, resulting in some very good work in Literacy.
Y5C – Darragh for a fantastic description of a science fiction character in Literacy.
Y5K – Ruby for having a fantastic attitude towards learning and towards school.
Y5K – Lewis for his considerable efforts to improve his writing.
Y5W – Georgia for taking control of her own learning.
Y5W – Millie for showing resilience, never giving up and always following the success criteria to help her.
Y4J – Katie for a fantastic imaginative piece of artwork in the style of Romero Britto.
Y4J – Hannah R for writing a fantastic explanation and making sure that she included all the success criteria.
Y4L – Thomas G for fantastic contribution in class and always having a smile.
Y4L – Toby for fantastic progress in Maths.
Y4N – Joel for improving his writing using casual connectives and a variety of punctuation.
Y4N – Levi for making positive improvements to his learning attitude.
Y3LW – Thomas for his excellent attitude to learning.
Y3LW – Abi for her fantastic explanation in English.
Y3M – Harris for becoming more confident and willing to share his ideas.
Y3M – Harry for being such a kind and helpful member of the class.
Y3P – James for excellent effort in Literacy, super imagination and good instructions with bossy verbs and technical vocabulary.
Y3P – Lucy for a wonderful attitude towards other people and the class. Beautifully behaved, thoughtful and kind.

Attendance:
Well done to class Y3M who had 98.9% attendance last week.
If your child is not in school for any reason, please phone the school office to let us know. The answer machine is on from 4:00pm until 8:30am so it is always possible to leave a message.

Tuesday 15th July Music concert to parents – time to be confirmed but likely to be 7pm
Wednesday 16th July Y6 Play – times to be confirmed but likely to be 2pm and 7pm

Friday 25th July Y6 Leavers Assembly – time to be confirmed but likely to be c.2:30pm

If you have any donations of good quality school uniform for the Summer Fair second hand uniform stall, please send it in to school. Thank you.

Staff absences
Both Mrs Humphreys and Mrs Pratt have had their operations and are recovering from them.
Mr Cardwell continues to be off sick and Mr Bailey will remain in his class.

If you have any issues at all please contact class teachers in the first instance, followed by phase leaders (Mr Kinnear for Years 5 and 6; Mrs Jordan for Years 3 and 4) and then either Mrs Jordan (Deputy Head) or me.

School Dinners
Please note that dinners have increased to £2.05 (£10.25 per week) from Monday 9th June 2014. We are currently owed £426.00 for unpaid dinners. Dinners must be ordered and paid for in advance on Monday mornings. Thank you.
