PE kit
Please try to ensure that your child has their PE kit in school with them at all times. At this time of year it is vital that they have sweatshirts, trainers and tracksuit bottoms so that they are able to participate fully when the class is outside. We also suggest that your child brings in a small towel and a plastic bag for wet/muddy clothes. If you are unsure as to what day your child does PE please contact their class teacher.

World Book Day
We will be celebrating World Book day on Friday 4th March, rather than Thursday 3rd. We would be delighted if the children come dressed as a book character.

Lost Property
We constantly seem to have an overflowing lost property box! Please ensure that all belongings are named, as we do return that which we can to its rightful owner.

New Parent APP for Nevill Road Schools
Mrs Marshall, at the Infant school, and I have been working with a company to design a new communication app. The free app, search Nevill Road Schools app, is available from the app store now but has not yet got much content. The introduction of the app has been as part of overwhelming feedback from parents that they would like electronic communication. Once it is up and running, we are hoping the majority of parents will be happy to use this rather than receive paper copies, and we will be asking parents who still require paper information to opt in rather than opt out.
The app includes absence reporting, term date information, push notifications to issue reminders as well as a way of receiving up to date information via letters and newsletters.
Further information will follow later this week.

Year 5 Bikeability and Year 4 Bikeability
There are places still available. If your child would like to attend please complete the Consent Forms and return to school as soon as possible.

Attendance and office times
Please remember that school starts at 8:50am with registers closing at 9am. Any child who arrives after 9am will have that session marked as an “unauthorised absence” and this WILL impact on their overall attendance figure for the term. The office staff work from 8:30am until 4pm (3:30pm on a Friday) and there is an answerphone at all other times so that you can leave a message regarding any absences.

Leave of Absence
Please remember that any requests for leave of absence should be made at least 2 weeks in advance of the start date. Leave of absence will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.

Friends of Nevill Road – dates of events
Thursday 3rd March – meeting at the Ladybrook Hotel 8pm.
Friday 4th March – mothers’ day activity in school pm

Best wishes,
