Dear Parents/Carers,

Staff update
It is lovely to be back in school, although I am currently only working half days. Mrs Jordan and I will continue to jointly run school during my phased return and I am hoping to be back full time from the middle of July. I would like to express my thanks to Mrs Jordan and Mrs Challinor for running school so effectively during my absence.

I am currently finalising next year’s staffing structure and hope to be able to provide the information for Years 4, 5 and 6 in next week’s newsletter.
The Year 3 team of Mr Kinnear, Miss Dean and Mrs Rutherford will remain unchanged and parents of children in Year 2 will be finding out which class is moving to which teacher before next Monday’s transition meeting.

Monday 27th – 9:15am brass assembly for Year 3 children; 6:30pm transition evening for current Year 2s
Wednesday 29th – Choir trip to the Halle a.m.; Year 6 Trip to Stockport Plaza p.m.
Thursday 30th – Year 5 trip to Weaver Hall

Friday 1st – Year 5 trip to Weaver Hall; Non-uniform day – bring unused toys or gifts for the summer fair;
“Send a child to school” awareness day

Monday 4th – Transition starts; Year 5 ACE day at Bramhall High School
Thursday 7th – Bramhall High School transition day for Year 6
Friday 8th – non-uniform day – bring bottles/cakes for the summer fair; Summer Fair @ 4.30 pm

Tuesday 12th – last day of transition
Wednesday 13th to Friday 15th – Year 6 Residential to Glaramara

Monday 18th – Music Concert (to be confirmed)
Wednesday 20th – Year 6 play to parents afternoon and evening (times to be confirmed)
Friday, 22nd – Sports Day @ 9.30 am

Wednesday 27th – Leavers’ assembly 2:30pm; school closes for the summer holidays at 3:20pm.
School reopens on Monday 5th September.

Morning Entrance
Please could I remind parents that children should not be coming into school at the start of the school day through the main entrance before 9 am. If they do they will be marked in as late. They should be using the doors on their corridors or the mobile classroom. These doors are kept open until 9 am and are manned by a member of staff. This is to help ease congestion in the office area. Only after these doors are closed should the main entrance be used.

Just a reminder that children should not be playing with footballs on the playground before and after school. Last week I received a complaint from a parent who had a young child that was nearly hit by a ball.

Dinner Monies
We are still owed £1050 in dinner monies. We have sent numerous reminders and individual letters asking for these to be cleared. Please can I ask that they are cleared as a matter of urgency and no later than Friday, as we need to start work on the new system to ensure that it is up and running by September.

The following children received certificates in assembly yesterday:

Y6E – Tom for showing growing maturity and paying close attention to instructions and knowing what is expected of him.
Y6E – Aneesh for some excellent contributions during lessons and always sharing his ideas and questions with the class in a mature way.
Y6S – Louie for taking great pride with his handwriting and also for being caring and generous to others.
Y6S – Ella for really improving her handwriting so that it is joined and neat.
Y6W – Alyssa for giving everything she does 100%. There isn’t a thing which is too much trouble – a lovely attitude to have.
Y6W – Will for his consistently happy demeanour and attitude towards everything we do.
Y5C – Ben for always trying his best and contributing thoughtfully to class discussions.
Y5C – Sofia for creating a fantastic poster about the Anglo Saxons.
Y5EP – Harry for working co-operatively whilst investigating air resistance in science.
Y5EP – Callum for working co-operatively whilst investigating air resistance in science.
Y5L – Izzy for great attitude to learning and very good behaviour.
Y5L – Thomas for consistently good behaviour and great attitude to learning.
Y4Ha – Charlotte for continuing to push and challenge herself no matter what.
Y4Ha – Millie for beautifully presented work showing care and pride in what she does.
Y4Hu – Jacob for a beautifully presented fantastic poster about looking after your teeth.
Y4Hu – Ryan for working really hard to produce beautiful joined handwriting.
Y4P – Amaya for fantastic group work in English when timelining the events of “Escape from Pompeii”.
Y4P – Toby for having a fantastic attitude to learning and always being ready to learn.
Y3D – Jordan for excellent problem solving in Maths and settling into our school incredibly well.
Y3D – Holly for always having a positive attitude towards her learning and consistently producing her best work.
Y3K – Nathan for a tremendous piece of writing inspired by the Great Kapok Tree.
Y3K – Maddison for much improved handwriting and lots of enthusiasm last week.
Y3R – Warren for coming into class and joining in the group reading session, and reading beautifully.
Y3R – Dylan for trying hard during maths lessons last week when telling the time.

Congratulations to class Y4Hu who had 99.3% attendance last week.

Attendance and office times
Please remember that school starts at 8:50am with registers closing at 9am. Any child who arrives after 9am will have that session marked as an “unauthorised absence” and this WILL impact on their overall attendance figure for the term. The office staff work from 8:30am until 4pm (3:30pm on a Friday) and there is an answerphone at all other times so that you can leave a message regarding any absences.

Leave of Absence
Please remember that any requests for leave of absence should be made at least 2 weeks in advance of the start date. Leave of absence will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.
