Newsletter week beginning 15/12/14

Dear Parents/Carers,

Key103 Mission Christmas
Thank you to everyone who has donated to this worthy local charity.

School Christmas Dinner
Thank you for returning forms for Christmas dinner which will be held on Thursday 18th December.
All the food has now been ordered so it will not be possible to opt to have a Christmas dinner on the day.
Children may wear Christmas hats into school that day if they wish to.

Friday 19th
We close for the Christmas holidays at 3:20pm on Friday 19th December. Children may wear their party clothes into school that day. There will be a Talent show in the morning and year group parties in the afternoon. Class teachers will inform the children as to whether they are performing in the show or not.

Christmas Post-box
We have received a few cards without the full details on the front, which has made it hard for our Year 6s who deliver the cards. Please make sure all envelopes have the recipient’s first name and last name and the class that they are in. Thank you.

Friends of Nevill Road Schools
We really value the funds that are raised by the Friends and are delighted to have just received 46 iPads for the children to use! Our IT technician is in the process of setting these up so we are hoping to have them up and running in classrooms from January. Many thanks to everyone who has helped out by organising or attending events.
The next Friends meeting is due to be held on Wednesday 14th January at 8pm at The Kings Hall in Cheadle Hulme. However, we are keen to try and involve more parents and realise that this time is not always suitable. There will therefore be a second meeting at 3.30 pm on Monday, 26th January in the Junior school. We will provide resources to entertain any children so please do come along and get involved.

Parking – poster competition
As part of our focus on highlighting the issues around parking, the children have been designing posters to encourage people to park safely. We will be displaying these around school and hope to turn some of them into posters to go outside.
Thank you to those who continue to think about the safety of others when parking. We are continuing to record any incidents that are reported to us and are aiming to work with the police and councillors in the New Year to further improve the situation.

Events/key dates this term:
December:
Wednesday 17th – 9am Year 3 Christmas concert to parents
