Newsletter week beginning 12/05/14

Dear Parents/Carers,

SATS
Due to the Year 6 SATs this week, we have not held whole school assembly today so there are no certificate details to pass on. Please also note that there are NO music lessons this week but all after school clubs ARE running.

This is a very important week for our Year 6s and it is vital that they are in school promptly so that the tests can start on time. They need to try to have a full night’s sleep and a good breakfast to give them the energy that they need. I would encourage them to bring a bottle of water into school in the morning and to avoid snacks which are high in sugar. All the children have worked extremely hard and this is a chance for them to show what they can do. I know that it can be a stressful time for both children and parents, but the week usually seems to go extremely quickly and the children realise that there really isn’t anything for them to worry about.
If for any reason your child is likely to be late or absent, please phone school at the earliest opportunity on 0161 439 4598.

Miss Whittle
I am delighted to inform you that Miss Whittle is starting her return to work this week following a period of illness. She will be in school for the mornings only until half term and will be gradually building up to working with groups of children after the Whit break.

Big Bike Race
We have entered the school in the virtual “Pole2Pole Big Bike Race” which runs until 26th May.
Every bike or scooter that comes to school earns virtual kilometres which all add up to our journey from pole to pole. The winning school will receive a Dr Bike session and a selection of bike related goodies.
More information can be found at www.bigbikerace.co.uk.

Attendance:
Well done to class Y5W who had 99.5% attendance last week.
If your child is not in school for any reason, please phone the school office to let us know. The answer machine is on from 4:00pm until 8:30am so it is always possible to leave a message.

School Dinners
This week the school is owed £281.65 in unpaid dinner monies. Please may I remind you that Dinner Order Forms are sent home with the children every Friday and they must be returned on Monday morning with the dinner order for that week/term, together with payment.

Year 6 Residential to Glaramara – final payments to be made by Friday, 30th May.
Year 5 Bikeability Level 2 Training –– Consent Forms and Voluntary Contribution request sent
