Newsletter week beginning 07/09/2015

Newsletter 2
8th September 2015
Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope that your children enjoyed the first 3 days of term last week. There was a lovely atmosphere around school and the children seemed happy and engaged.

Year 3 playground
We would be grateful if parents could please try to stand back from the mobile classrooms on the Year 3 playground. This area can become very busy at the start and end of day, and many people are trying to get through to/from the Infant school as well. Teachers will come out and collect children from in front of the mobiles in the morning; they will then bring the classes to the same place at the end of the day. By standing further back it will enable the children to be able to see whoever is collecting them more easily and allow them to come out safely with their teachers. Thank you.

Term dates for 2015-2016
Term dates for this academic year have been sent out and are on the school website.
Please note that Easter falls within the Spring term – we are in for 4 days after Easter Monday before breaking up for the holidays, so please be careful if booking a holiday for that time.

Attendance and office times
Please remember that school starts at 8:50am with registers closing at 9am. Any child who arrives after 9am will have that session marked as an “unauthorised absence” and this WILL impact on their overall attendance figure for the term. The office staff work from 8:30am until 4pm (3:30pm on a Friday) and there is an answerphone at all other times so that you can leave a message regarding any absences.

Healthy eating
We are trying to promote a culture of healthy eating and would ask that parents encourage their children to bring in healthy snacks to school. In addition we would request that sweets are not sent in for birthdays.

Weekly class attendance awards will begin next week.

We do encourage the children to bring in any awards or achievements from outside school to share with us in assembly. So if there are any man of the match trophies, swimming/dance/judo certificates or other sporting or musical awards, please feel free to bring them in on a Monday.

Reading records and homework diaries
We would be grateful if parents could sign these so that teachers know that children have been heard read and that parents are aware of the homework that has been set. These books can be a useful means of communication when it is sometimes difficult for parents to get into school. Teachers will check these on a regular basis. Thank you.

Best wishes,
Miss Sheila Harrison
Headteacher
