Newsletter week beginning 06/06/14

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the final half term of this academic year. I hope that you had an enjoyable break and that the children are refreshed and ready for a half term which always seems to fly by!

Before we broke up, some of our Year 4s took part in a Mini Tennis tournament at Bramhall Tennis Club. They finished as very worthy runners up and have qualified for the final of the Borough tennis tournament. This will take place next Wednesday, 18th June, at Cheadle Kingsway Tennis Club.
Congratulations to the team of Will, Erin G, Amy M and Finley; and we wish them all the best for the final competition.

Congratulations also go to our wind players who took various exams before half term.
Receiving certificates today were:
Poppy S (Y6) Grade 3 flute Lauren A (Y5) Grade 2 flute
Katy G (Y6) Grade 3 flute Kathryn F (Y5) Grade 2 flute
Laurence F (Y6) Grade 3 clarinet Sophie W (Y5) Grade 2 B flat cornet

From September we will have some spaces for children in the current Years 3, 4 and 5 to learn a musical instrument. A letter went home before half term and I would ask you to return this at the earliest opportunity. The instrument teachers will be doing a 5 minute slot in various assemblies over the next week or two in order to give the children a feel for the different instruments.

The following dates have already been set in the school diary for the first 4 weeks; I will let you know any others as soon as possible.
