Tuesday 11th Fire Brigade visit for Year 6 – linked to keeping safe.
Thursday 13th Hazel Grove Baptist Church assembly.
Wednesday 12th Health morning – see separate letter from Miss Paterson.
Wednesday 19th Parents’ evening 4-6pm
Thursday 20th Parents’ evening 4-7pm
Friday 21st Finish for half term at 3:20pm
Monday 31st School reopens at 8:50am

Harvest assembly
Thank you so much to all those who donated items for the Wellspring. All the cans, jars and packets have been packaged up and collected so that they can be redistributed to those who are in need of them.

Secondary open days
Please remember that applications for secondary school places must be completed online via the council website. The deadline is October 31st 2016.
Future open days that I have received dates for:
Stockport Grammar School open mornings – Saturday 12th November, 10am-12noon

Games and puzzles
If you are having a clear-out and have any old board games or jigsaw puzzles that are suitable for use in school on wet dinnertimes, we would gratefully receive them as we are looking to increase the range of activities on offer. Many thanks.

MacMillan coffee morning
Many thanks to everyone who bought and donated cakes. An amazing £737.76 was raised for this worthy cause.

Celebration and achievement assembly
This year we are holding our “Celebration and achievement” assembly on a Friday morning. We still love to see what the children have achieved outside school so please bring in certificates, trophies and medals to share with us.
Certificates were presented last Friday to:

Y6E – Abi for taking pride in her work and showing the ability to learn from her mistakes and improve her writing.
Y6E – Patrick for his improved attitude to learning and producing an excellent piece of writing with great fronted adverbials.
Y6P – Tom for being kind and polite to everybody in the class and for showing the rest of the school how well-mannered a Year 6 should be.
Y6P – Caity for producing a simply wonderful piece of writing in English, full of expanded noun phrases.
Y6W – Sofia for always listening and applying everything she is being taught, which has really impacted on her writing.
Y6W – Reece for his determined attitude to his learning; so much so that he is making excellent progress in maths and writing.
Y5JP – Freddie for his explanation of how planets move in the solar system.
Y5JP – Emily for her superb display of balances and rolls in gymnastics.
Y5LW – Daniel for his positive attitude to his learning, engagement in activities and excellent behaviour.
Y5LW – Lily for her excellent attitude towards learning. Lily is always ready to learn and produces work to be proud of. Well done.
Y5SD – Thomas for persevering in order to complete his artword to a high standard.
Y5SD – Grace for being a conscientious, reliable and mature member of the class.
Y4Ha – Holly for her determination in maths and overcoming challenges.
Y4Ha – Libby for her positive mind-set towards learning.
Y4Hu – Edwin for a fantastic piece of descriptive writing.
Y4Hu – Olivia for always showing enthusiasm, perseverance and giving her best in everything.
Y4W – Abigail for accurately drawing a human figure in various poses, with correct proportions.
Y4W – Adam for consistently using the most impressive vocabulary in his writing.
Y3D – Imogen demonstrating wonderful enthusiasm and hard work in all her lessons. It is pleasure to have her in the class.
Y3D – Alfie for showing that he is always ready to learn and participate in lessons. Alfie showed the same wonderful enthusiasm on the trip making him a brilliant role model.
Y3K – Tyler B for listening much more carefully and trying really hard in class this week.
Y3K – Audrey for taking exceptional care and trying her best in each and every lesson.
Y3R – Jacob for always having a positive attitude to learning and being a resilient independent learner.
Y3R – Lily for fantastic behaviour during the trip, listening well and being able to answer questions.

Congratulations to Y3D and Y4W who had 100% attendance for last week.
I am delighted that whole school attendance for this year to date is 97.35%  well done to everyone.

Upright piano available to a good home
Are you looking for a piano? We have one that is going spare – so if you are interested please get in touch. It does need tuning and may well need a bit of work on the pads. You would also need to be able to collect it.
