Newsletter – week beginning 03/09/14

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to another packed term at Nevill Road Junior School.

There are a few pieces of information that I need to share with you before next week.

On Wednesday evening, 10th September 6:30-7:30pm, the Head of Bramhall High School will be leading an information evening for parents of children in Years 5 and 6. This is to give you the opportunity to gain information about the school and the way it operates prior to making applications for your child’s secondary school place. A number of other staff will also be there to give information and to answer any questions that you may have. I hope that people will be able to attend the presentation which will take place in the school hall.

As you will have discovered, all our new classrooms have been finished in time for the start of the school year. Whilst space is not an issue on the Year 5 and 6 playground, it is on the playground which all the Year 3s and 4s use to enter/exit school. It would make things a little less chaotic if parents could please stand towards the board at the rear of this playground when collecting the children at the end of the day.
The Year 4 children in the mobiles will exit them via the fire exits at the rear of the classroom.
Mr Kinnear’s class will now use the door that is at the side of the hall to both enter and exit the building.
The Year 3s will continue to use the main door off the playground but that is the area that is becoming extremely congested. Your help and patience while we iron out new procedures would be much appreciated.

Swimming for Year 4 children will start on Wednesday 10th September.

The Lost Property box is overflowing at the moment! If you think that any of the items may belong to your child, please come in and check as soon as possible.

As children enter Year 6 we realise that parents start to allow them to walk home unaccompanied, in preparation for moving on to secondary school. If your child has permission to walk home unaccompanied at the end of the day, please complete the slip at the bottom of the page and return it as soon as possible to the class teacher.

I look forward to working with you and your children over the course of this year and will keep you fully informed via my newsletters and the website.

Best wishes,

Miss Sheila Harrison
Headteacher
