School closes for the holidays at 3:20pm on Friday 27th May and reopens on Monday 13th June.

Year 6
Next week our Year 6 children will be sitting their SATs papers. We would like to wish them lots of luck. They have all worked extremely hard and I am sure they are going to make everyone proud. We would like to ask that you try to ensure that the children arrived rested after a good night’s sleep and promptly each day. All the tests will be taken in the mornings and all children are expected to sit them at the same time. If your child is ill please contact the school as soon as possible so that we can apply for a timetable variation to enable them to sit the test.

Morning Entrance
Please could I remind parents that children should not be coming into school at the start of the school day through the main entrance before 9 am. If they do they will be marked in as late. They should be using the doors on their corridors or the mobile classroom. These doors are kept open until 9 am and are manned by a member of staff. This is to help ease congestion in the office area. Only after these doors are closed should the main entrance be used.

Just a reminder that if you have concerns about your child their class teacher is the first port of call. If you feel that the issue needs to be escalated, the phase leader should be contacted. For Years 3 and 4 this is Mr Kinnear, whilst in Years 5 and 6 it is Miss Wilson. If your concern is around the area of SEND then Mrs Lamont should be contacted and for any friendship/playground issues, Mr Black is a further point of contact. Only once these channels have been followed should myself or Mrs Challinor be contacted.

Attendance and office times
Please remember that school starts at 8:50am with registers closing at 9am. Any child who arrives after 9am will have that session marked as an “unauthorised absence” and this WILL impact on their overall attendance figure for the term. The office staff work from 8:30am until 4pm (3:30pm on a Friday) and there is an answerphone at all other times so that you can leave a message regarding any absences.

Leave of Absence
Please remember that any requests for leave of absence should be made at least 2 weeks in advance of the start date. Leave of absence will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.

Best wishes,

Mrs Nicola Jordan
Acting Headteacher
