Parent Newsletter 11 – Spring Term 2018
Dear Parents and Carers,
Here are just some of the highlights from the last two weeks…
Visit from Megan Giglian
Last Thursday we were very excited to welcome Megan Giglian to Nevill Road Juniors. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, Megan won a gold medal in the women’s 3000 m individual pursuit. The children were able to ask Megan questions about her amazing achievements and to see all of her medals. She has asked us to launch a competition to design a cycle helmet. Details will be going out to the children this week. Megan will be coming back in to school in a few weeks to present the prizes.
and the winning class is……Y5HW. Many thanks to all of the sponsorship money you have donated.
Design and Technology Workshops
The children in years 3 and 4 had two fantastic days learning a variety of new skills during the workshops. Thank you to all the parents that came in to help both days such a success. Their finished products will be on display around school.
Safer Internet Day
This week we have been talking to children about e safety and encouraging them to ask any questions they have, about how to stay safe online. If you would like more information about how to help your children further, please find resources on our school website. The following link is also useful as it provides information on how to set up parental controls. http://www.safeguardingchildrenea.co.uk
If you have any concerns regarding these issues, please speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
World Book Day
Both the Infant and the Junior schools will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 2nd March. Children are welcome to dress up as their favourite book character and we ask that they bring in the book as well. During the week, there will be a variety of activities taking place to raise the profile of reading. We would appreciate donations of any children’s magazines that you no longer need, as well as books.
Car Park Gates
For safeguarding reasons, the car park gates will now be closed as access to the car parks is strictly for staff only. We are concerned that children’s safety may be at risk if the gates are left open.
Please find attached diary dates for next half term
