Parent Newsletter 9 – Spring Term 2018
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year to you all and I hope you have had an enjoyable festive season. It is wonderful to see that the children have come back to school with a fantastic attitude towards their learning and behaviour.
Year 4 Classes
Due to the large numbers of children who have joined us in Year 4 since September, we now have three classes in the year group. The children have settled beautifully and are enjoying having more space in their classrooms!
Healthy Food for Healthy Outcomes
Please be reminded of the Ofsted expectations with regards to healthy eating. “Inspectors will look for evidence of a culture or ethos of exercise and healthy eating throughout their entire inspection visit, in classrooms as well as in the school canteen.” Children currently receive two hours of PE lessons a week as well as daily opportunities to take part in extracurricular clubs and lunchtime activities. As part of our PSHE lessons we talk to the children regularly about healthy eating. Dolce, our school dinner provider, have just installed a new look to the school canteen in order to improve the environment. Unfortunately, I am still seeing a lot of children bringing chocolate, sweets and sugary drinks in to school. We really need your help to ensure that this aspect of school life is in line with Government expectations. The following website contains further advice on healthy eating https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/healthy-eating-what-young-children-need
We are pleased to welcome Mrs Knott to our staff team who will be working one to one, with children in Year 4. Mr Roscoe will also be joining us in Year 3 after February half term, to cover Miss Dean’s maternity leave. It is with sadness however, that we say goodbye to Mrs Pattison and Mrs Keeling who we wish well for the future.
Holiday Dates – 2018/2019
Paper copies were given out to the children on Monday. Please note that we are not following the Stockport pattern for Christmas 2018 – we will be fitting in with the local High Schools, i.e. we will finish for Christmas on Friday, 21st December and return to school on Monday, 7th January.
These have gone out on the school app for the first half term. However, here are a few reminders of some of the up and coming events.
